Shopify

Connect your store so customer and order data shows up next to the conversation.

Rami Magdi·30. September 2026

For a shop, the first question on almost every ticket is “which order is this about?”. Connecting Shopify puts the customer and their orders in the contact profile, so nobody has to search the Shopify admin mid-conversation.

What you need first

A custom app in your Shopify admin. Create it there, and give it these access scopes:

  • read_customers

  • read_orders

Read-only, both of them. Gleap never writes to your store.

Connect it

Add Shopify from Integrations and enter three things from that app: the Client ID, the Client Secret, and your store name — the part before .myshopify.com. Pasting the full URL works too.

Then authorise it in Shopify. Once it's done, the integration confirms which store is connected and links straight to that admin, which is the quickest way to check you connected the right one.

There's also a manual access-token path, kept for stores that set this up before. New connections should use the app credentials — tokens pasted by hand are easy to leak and hard to rotate.

What you see

Customer and order information, in the contact profile. So a returns question opens with the order already in front of you, rather than after two rounds of “which order number?”.

When nothing shows

The match runs off the customer's email, so a contact with no email address can't be matched. Shoppers who checked out as a guest with a different address are the usual gap — and there's nothing to fix there beyond asking for the order number.

If nothing at all works, re-check the scopes. An app created without read_orders connects happily and then shows no orders, which reads like a bug and isn't one.
