If your Steady project has been locked — you may also see this described as a ban — it means we've found content on your page that doesn't meet our Community Guidelines or falls outside what Steady is intended for.
This is usually fixable. Here's why it happens, and how to get your project back online.
Two documents govern this, and it's worth reading both:
The Community Guidelines define which content is acceptable on Steady.
The Intended Use Policy defines who Steady is built for and which kinds of projects can't use it.
The most common reasons a project is locked are that it's being used for something Steady isn't designed for, rather than anything malicious. For example:
Collecting donations, or funding a project that isn't tied to regularly published digital content
Selling physical goods, or services other than memberships
Advertising, PR, corporate communications or promotional publications
Regulated advice, such as tax or legal advice
Financial services, trading, betting, lotteries or games of chance
Erotic or pornographic content, or content harmful to minors — including where it's published elsewhere and only funded through Steady
Missing prerequisites, such as being under 18 or operating without a tax number
Find out exactly what was flagged. If it isn't clear to you which content caused the problem, email [email protected] and ask. We'd rather tell you than have you guess.
Remove or change the content on your page so it follows the guidelines.
Email us at [email protected] to let us know you've made the changes. Include your project URL and a short note on what you changed — it helps us review faster.
We review your page and unlock it if it now complies.
If the page still doesn't comply after our review, we'll let you know and the decision stands. You're welcome to come back to us if something material changes about your project, but we won't re-review the same page repeatedly.
We do get this wrong sometimes. If you believe your project does follow the guidelines, reply to us at [email protected] and explain why — point us to the specific content and tell us what we may have misread. A person will look at it again.
